I finally tried Sensei Stelfreeze's technique of acrylics instead of watercolors because I wanted bold colors instead of the softness of watercolors. Plus, his suggestion of 'tiling' or glazing the acrylics worked marvelously.
Once the acrylic dries, you get the best of both worlds: the bold, waterfast color and you can still work on top of it.
I got another commission I'm preparing for once I get the characters. Hopefully, I can further my technique on it as well.
